Bianca Pagdanganan duplicated her decent opening round of 1-under 71 in the fourth round, but it fell short of saving her from going down at t-64th at the end of the 2021 LPGA Mediheal Championship at the Lake Merced Golf Club in Daly City, California, Monday morning (Manila time).
The 23-year-old pocketed $3,373 (P 161,342) for the finish and maintained her t-134th spot in the year-end CME Group Tour Championship standings.
Starting from square one after two rounds, the current tour rookie nosedived to share 66th place after a hard-luck 5-over 77 in the third round. Five bogeys — including three straight in holes No. 6 to No. 8 — saw her blowing her chances for the title.
Pagdangan, nonetheless, was able to compose herself in the final round, going par across the first six holes. But a bogey in the following pushed her further down at 6-over in total.
With nothing to lose, the world no. 159 negated that bogey with a birdie in the tenth hole; then plucked another birdie at No.15 for her final score of the tournament.
Matilda Casttren of Finland came out of second place to snag the title and the $225,000 (or roughly P10.77-miliion) winner’s prize after a huge 7-under 65 in the day.
Day three leader Min Lee of Chinese Taipei slid to second after a 3-under in the final round.
