With Tina Salak’s advice, Jean Asis confident in PVL jump

After fulfilling her role at Far Eastern University, Jean Asis — armed with the blessing and guidance of her former head coach Tina Salak — is more than ready to take the next step in her career by entering the 2025 Premier Volleyball League Draft.

The 5-foot-10 middle blocker was instrumental in reviving the Lady Tamaraws’ program, helping steer the team to back-to-back Final Four appearances where they pushed defending champions National University to the limit both times.

Asis shared that she, along with teammates Chenie Tagaod and Ann Monares, had a heartfelt conversation with Salak after asking for her blessing to enter the draft.

The legendary setter took the time to walk them through the challenges and differences between collegiate and professional volleyball, helping them prepare mentally for what lies ahead.

“Sobrang dami nilang advices.

A product of FEU-Diliman, Asis believes her long experience in the UAAP — spanning from high school to college — will be one of her biggest advantages heading into the draft, especially with several other top-tier middle blockers also in the pool.

“Siguro sa akin po, yung experience ko. Kasi from high school to college, nag-UAAP na ako.

As she embarks on a new chapter, Asis extends her well wishes to her alma mater, hoping the Lady Tamaraws can continue their progress and come back even stronger in the seasons to come.

For me, siguro kaya pa rin nilang ituloy yung naumpisahan namin,” said Asis.

Kahit off yung mga ate, andoon sila para i-cover up yung lapses. Feel ko talaga kaya nila.”
