Niña Ytang has become the second top prospect to withdraw from the 2026 Premier Volleyball League Rookie Draft.
Ytang followed the same path as projected top pick Alyssa Solomon, opting out of the upcoming draft to commit to national team duties with Alas Pilipinas.
“Limang taon akong naging iskolar ng bayan. Ngayon, ibabalik ko naman ang binigay sa akin para sa ating bansa,” said the former University of the Philippines standout.
The 24-year-old middle blocker, the only four-time Best Middle Blocker in UAAP women’s volleyball history, was widely expected to be among the first names selected in what was initially projected to be a star-studded draft class.
Following Solomon’s withdrawal, Ytang had even emerged as a strong candidate for the No. 1 overall pick.
The former UP star also impressed at the Draft Combine, recording the highest approach jump at 311 centimeters and the second-highest vertical reach at 297 centimeters.
Also withdrawing from the draft to focus on their commitments with Alas Pilipinas are Letran standouts Lara Mae Silva and Natalie Estreller.
