Willie Morrison shatters SEAG shotput record


CAPAS, TARLAC — Willie Morrison ruled the 30th Southeast Asian Games’ shotput competition to bring the national track team’s haul to six golds, Sunday at the NCC Athletics Center.

The Filipino-American’s throw gathered a distance of 18.38 meters, shattering an eight-year meet record by a whopping half meter.

The previous record was set by Thailand’s Polyiam Chatchawal with a throw of 17.74m.

Malaysia’s Muhammad Ziyad Zolkefli took silver with 17.03m, while Thailand’s Promrob Juntima had 16.40.
