It took less than 24 hours for Joshua Munzon to find a new home
Filipino-American swingman Joshua Munzon is set to join the defending ASEAN Basketball League champions Westsports Malaysia Dragons after signing with the team, Wednesday morning.
“I just signed with the Dragons,” the 22-year-old told Tiebreaker Times.
Munzon had been surprisingly released by the struggling Saigon Heat on Tuesday morning after the team tallied a 1-6 slate in their first seven games. During that span, the California-native posted norms of 18.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and a league-best 4.1 steals.
“I was shocked, this definitely came from left field,” Munzon, who stands at 6-foot-5, told Tiebreaker Times.
The Dragons will boost their lineup with Munzon on hand as they try to solidify their grip on the fourth spot with a 2-6 record. He will join Americans Marcus Melvin and Skylar Spencer in the Kuala Lumpur-based club team.
He is set to make his debut with the Dragons on Sunday, February 5, when they face the Kaohsiung Truth in Taiwan. On the other hand, he will make his return trip to the Philippines on Friday, February 17, at the Baliwag Star Arena in Bulacan.
