Wello Lingolingo departs UE, set for one-and-done run at Benilde

After four years, Wello Lingolingo has decided to leave University of the East.

The 22-year-old guard confirmed he will transfer to College of Saint Benilde, moving from Rector to Taft Avenue as he looks to continue his growth under Blazers head coach Charles Tiu.

Lingolingo spent the last four years with UE, developing into one of the leaders of the Red Warriors.

Despite the departures of key players such as Noy Remogat, Gani Stevens, and Rainer Maga, the 6-foot-1 guard from Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, remained a constant presence in the program.

“I am truly grateful to the entire UE community for welcoming me and supporting me throughout the past four years. Wearing the red and white jersey meant more than just representing a team—it meant representing a family, a tradition, and a community that believed in me from the very beginning,” he wrote.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the coaches for your guidance, patience, and for challenging me to grow and push me beyond my limits. To the Management, Tanduay Management, and to Boss Jean (Alabanza), thank you for your constant support throughout this journey.”

In what ended up as his final year, Lingolingo averaged 14.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game.

With another wave of departures at UE — including Precious Momowei, Nico Mulingtapang, Dylan Despi, and Richmond Casino — Lingolingo decided it was time to move on as well.

“As I close this chapter of my journey, I carry with me memories, friendships, and lessons that will last a lifetime. Though my time on the court with this jersey may end, the spirit, pride, and love for this team will always remain. UE will forever be where my UAAP story began, and that will always hold a special place in my heart,” he said.

“Once a Warrior, always a Warrior, indeed!”

Lingolingo will now sit out one year before suiting up for a one-and-done season in NCAA Season 103.
