V.League postpones Tokyo-Nagoya game

Coming off a two-game high, Marck Espejo and his FC Tokyo’s momentum got derailed by COVID-19.

The team announced on Friday that its weekend games against Wolfdogs Nagoya are both cancelled due to a player testing positive.

“On Wednesday, one player from the FC Tokyo volleyball team received a positive test for a coronavirus infection,” the statement read.

“From the viewpoint of preventing the spread of infection, we have decided to cancel the games this weekend.”

Hours after the announcement, the squad said two more players tested positive.

The team was coming off a successful two-game series against Bryan Bagunas’ Oita Miyoshi, sweeping the weekend to improve to 8-16 for eighth place.

As of press time, FC Tokyo’s next game will be on February 26 against JT Hiroshima at the F-Pico Arena Fukuyama unless further cancellations have to be done.

“The FC Tokyo volleyball team will continue to work while taking further measures to prevent infection,” assured the team.
