V.League: Bagunas’ 16 not enough to lift Oita past JTEKT

Oita Miyoshi dropped its sixth-straight game, losing to JTEKT in straight sets, 15-25, 20-25, 18-25, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 men’s tournament at the Showa Denko Dome, Saturday.

Bryan Bagunas unleashed a team-high 16 points on 14 attacks and two blocks but was not enough to break their losing skid.

Kento Miyaura made damage from different areas on the floor for the Stings with 13 attacks, five service aces, and three blocks to get 21 points.

Felipe Fonteles also added 21 points of his own on an 18-of-29 spiking rate.

Also helping JTEKT’s cause was its almost-flawless play, only committing eight errors in the match.

Other Oita Miyoshi import Emerson Rodriguez chimed in 11 points while middle blocker Shodai Abe added 10 points including four blocks.

The Stings improved to 14-11 at the sixth spot while pulling the Weisse Adler down to 5-22 at ninth place in the 10-team field.

The two clubs meet again tomorrow at 12:00 PM (Manila time) at the same Oita venue.
