UST Growling Tigers get ‘two-and-through’ Joshua Fontanilla

With the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball Tournament just days old, the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers have found  someone to replace Renzo Subido once he graduates.

UST have secured the commitment of current St. Clare College of Caloocan guard Joshua Fontanilla after his graduation next year.

Growling Tigers head coach Aldin Ayo himself confirmed the development to Tiebreaker Times.

With Fontanilla about to hold a degree, the 20-year-old will automatically be eligible to join UST come Season 83. He will enroll in a master’s degree program.

Moreover, he will get to play two years in UST, since he only played in the seniors’ division of NAASCU for three years.

And Ayo saw first hand how good Fontanilla is.

Last May 16, Fontanilla scored 19 points for St. Clare but lost to UST, 75-78.

Fontanilla ended up averaging 13.3 points on 37.8 shooting from deep to go along with 4.1 assists and 3.5 rebounds during the conference.

In the meantime, Fontanilla looks to steer St. Clare to a fourth straight NAASCU crown.

St. Clare head coach Jinino Manansala is also serving as an assistant coach to Ayo.
