UE head coach Bong Tan collapses during pick-up game

University of the East head coach and Philippine Airlines president Bong Tan has been rushed to Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan after collapsing in a recreational league game, Saturday morning.

According to multiple reports, Tan — who was playing for PAL in a game versus Exile held at Gatorade Hoops Center in Mandaluyong — lost consciousness with 2:56 left in the second stanza of the game.

A livestream of the game was taken down a few hours after the incident.

Tiebreaker Times has reached out to Tan’s confidant Lawrence Chongson but has yet to receive a response as of publishing.

Tan, together with active consultant Chongson, steered UE to a 4-10 finish in the UAAP Season 82 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
