Troy Rosario allayed fears of a major injury after hurting his ankle late in TNT’s 2021 PBA Philippine Cup meeting with Meralco, Friday evening.
The 6-foot-7 forward’s premature exit from the match due to an apparent sprain dampened the Tropang Giga’s dominant 91-76 victory — their fifth in as many outings — but there should be nothing to worry about, he said.
“Hindi naman siya severe sprain,” he told Tiebreaker Times.
“Pero kasi it’s been years na rin since my last sprain. Kaya bago sa pakiramdam.”
Rosario got hurt with less than four minutes left to play upon securing the offensive board. He was down on the floor shortly after while clutching on the affected part, visibly in pain as his teammates rushed to his aide.
He was subbed out and never came back, leaving with four points, nine rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes and 31 seconds.
“Going for rebound ako sa loose ball tapos paghinto ko, na-feel ko na kumapit ‘yung front part ng sapatos ko,” said the 29-year-old.
But then again, the six-year pro reiterated that there’s nothing serious. And he aims to heal up quickly as he’s keen to play on Sunday versus Magnolia.
That would be one big test for him and the Tropa as they will face a team that’s coming off a 94-78 drubbing of the Blackwater Bossing.
“Diagnosis, nothing serious,” said Rosario.
“Ice ko lang at inuman anti-inflammatory. Para makalaro sa Sunday.”
