Top Flight Canada completed a dominant title run, turning back Crossover, 91–77, to secure a third straight Under-19 championship in the Global Hoops International, Saturday at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Riley Santa Juana led Top Flight with 20 points and was later named the U19 division Most Valuable Player in this tournament, backed by Smart, Jollibee, Gatorade, Wilson, JHoop, Sequioa Hotel, Scopemed, and Arceegee.
Top Flight placed four players in double figures, with Robyn Florendo and Malcolm Tyler contributing 12 points apiece, while Nash Munro added 10.
Both finalists entered the championship unbeaten in group play.
In the semifinals last March 20, Top Flight Canada defeated Homegrown Australia, 64–55, while Crossover Canada edged Mic Basketball Australia, 71–67.
The tournament serves as a prelude to the SMART-NBTC National Finals.
Top Flight faces D’Geneals x Dynamix Creative in the opening round of the nationals while Crossover takes on Fil-Nation Select LA.
In other results, Bayanihan Elite UK captured the Under-18 boys title with a 70–54 victory over Sequioa Camp New Zealand, with Jim Corpuz earning MVP honors.
Mic Australia Scopemed claimed the Under-16 boys championship after an 81–72 win over Crossover Canada, led by MVP Xander Rosales.
Coach D Basketball ruled the Under-16 girls division, defeating Mic Australia Scopemed, 56–44, behind MVP Nicole Doctolero.
Crossover Canada salvaged a title in the Under-14 division, routing Philippine New Zealand Basketball Reps, 102–58, as Jordan Aquino was named MVP.
In the Under-12 boys category, Mic Australia Scopemed Team Melbourne Hoops defeated Auba Western Australia, 73–52, with Hunter Obedoza taking home MVP honors.
