College of Saint Benilde continues to load up for NCAA Season 100.
The Blazers have secured the commitment of San Beda products Tony Ynot and Justine Sanchez.
Blazers head coach Charles Tiu is glad that the two chose to go to them as many other schools were in play to get both Ynot and Sanchez.
“I am not sure what happened exactly as to why they decided to leave, but I am very happy that they decided to study and play for Benilde,” said Tiu. “They gave our team a lot of problems whenever we played against San Beda. They are undoubtedly talented players.
“I know that many schools, including the UAAP, were talking to them, but I am grateful to boss Frank (Lao) for bringing them to CSB.”
Back in February, Ynot and Sanchez left the Lions’ den. Both are products of the Red Cubs program.
Ynot, a do-it-all 6-foot-1 guard, averaged 9.06 points, 5.44 rebounds, and 2.33 assists last season while Sanchez, a 6-foot-5 big, put up numbers of 5.59 points and 3.41 rebounds per game.
The two were granted special guest license to play for Manu Inigo’s Iloilo in the MPBL by CSB last week.
In two games played with the United Royals, Ynot is averaging 11.0 points, 4.0 assists, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 steals while Sanchez is norming 10.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 1.0 blocks per contest.
Both Ynot and Sanchez will have to sit out NCAA Season 99 before being eligible to play for the Blazers. They join the likes of Allen Liwag, Emman Galman, and Jhomel Ancheta as the key additions of CSB for Season 100.
The two will make their CSB debuts in the 2023 Pinoyliga Collegiate Cup next week.
