Tin Tiamzon wasted no time shaking off the rust from her return last year, delivering a stellar performance in Cignal’s 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference opener on Saturday night.
The 28-year-old outside hitter led the Super Spikers in a straight-set demolition of Galeries Tower, finishing with a game-high 18 points—10 attacks, six service aces, and two kill blocks—her best showing since joining the Super Spikers last year.
“Madami pa rin akong nakikitang kulang sa sarili ko. Siyempre, as a player, you always want to be better than your last performance,” Tiamzon said, reflecting on her drive to improve.
Determined not to be complacent, Tiamzon is keeping her eyes on the bigger prize: helping Cignal reach the podium in the all-local conference.
“So, I think hindi ako magiging kampante sa season na to kasi talagang gusto namin makakuha ng medal as a team, and we will do our best to work hard to keep getting better as well, individually and as a team,” she added.
Inserted into the starting lineup over former Rookie of the Conference Ishie Lalongisip, Tiamzon quickly proved her worth against the Highrisers.
Vanie Gandler and Erika Santos also shone, contributing 14 and 13 points, respectively, as Cignal weathered early rallies before dominating in the third set.
Cignal head coach Shaq Delos Santos acknowledged the team’s offseason efforts to secure reinforcements, but with luck not on their side, they decided to rely on their core roster.
And the strategy seems to be paying off. Tiamzon, Gandler, and Santos have blended seamlessly with the team, showing early signs of chemistry and cohesion.
“Siyempre, malaking impact, malaking help sa amin, yun nga, intact pa rin yung core namin, yung team. Actually nandun pa rin kami sa proseso na papaano namin siya mas mabi-build pa. And, di talaga kami magi-stop na maiproseso namin nang maayos,” Delos Santos said.
