Intact Cignal weathered a few early challenges from the new-look Galeries Tower before pulling away for a dominant straight-set victory, 25-17, 25-14, 25-11, to open its 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference campaign in winning fashion on Saturday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
Erika Santos spearheaded the charge, teaming up with Tine Tiamzon and Vanie Gandler as the Super Spikers answered every push from the Highrisers, who were paced by Erika Deloria and Aiza Maizo-Pontillas. The win allowed Cignal to seize an early share of the lead in the 10-team field.
The convincing performance provided a strong opening statement for Cignal, building momentum and confidence ahead of its high-profile clash against the revamped Choco Mucho on Thursday at 4 p.m., also at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.
Meanwhile, Galeries Tower will seek a quick rebound when it takes on ZUS Coffee on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Montalban.
