Petro Gazz eyes Candon hat trick as PVL returns to Ilocos Sur

Candon City, Ilocos Sur is ready to welcome back the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour with open arms and heightened anticipation as it plays host to another explosive double-header at the Candon City Arena on July 29.

Highlighting the day’s festivities is a marquee clash between powerhouse squads Petro Gazz Angels and Choco Mucho Flying Titans – two teams tipped to contend for the crown in the league’s ongoing pre-season tournament.

This marks the third time the dynamic city in Northern Luzon will host the PVL On Tour, solidifying its growing reputation as a major player in the national sporting landscape.

The timing couldn’t be more perfect as the competition continues to intensify, with each match serving as a testament to the elevated level of play brought by a mix of seasoned veterans and sensational newcomers.

Indeed, the arrival of blue-chip rookies has contributed to an unprecedented level of parity in the tournament, making each showdown a must-watch affair. But among the four teams seeing action in Candon, all eyes will once again be on defending All-Filipino champion Petro Gazz, which has a storied history of success in the city.

The Angels have swept their previous PVL On Tour outings at the Candon City Arena, including a dominant performance against the Nxled Chameleons on Oct. 28, 2023, and a resounding win over the Farm Fresh Foxies on Nov. 23, 2024.

In both cases, fans were treated to straight-set victories that underscored the team’s dominance — and they’ll be out to make it a hat trick when they face the Flying Titans in what is expected to be a fierce battle.
