Team Pilipinas’ Pencak Silat squad bags two silvers in World Championship


Cherry May Regalado and the Philippine National Pencak Silat Team continue to make the country proud.

In the three-day World Pencak Silat Championships held from December 13 to 16 at the OCBC Arena in Singapore, the team bagged two silvers and two bronzes.

Regalado, who won bronze in the 2018 Asian Games, brought home silver in the tunggal puti event.

Also finishing runners-up are Rick Rod Ortega, James El Mayagma, and Jefferson Rhey Loon in the regu putra team event.

Rechel Llavore in the Class A tanding male and Jaciren Abad in the Class B tanding male ended up with bronze in the sport popular in Southeast Asia.

During the Asiad, the squad took four of the country’s 15 bronze medals.
