SOURCES: Tai Bundit out as Ateneo coach

The architect of the Ateneo de Manila University’s UAAP dynasty has decided to step down

Numerous sources have confirmed with Tiebreaker Times that Tai Bundit will be stepping down as the head coach of the Ateneo Lady Eagles.

Rumors began swirling when Bundit missed Ateneo’s last three matches in the recently-concluded Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference to fly home to Thailand.

One source says that Bundit has been homesick and wishes to spend more time with his family.

Coaching the Lady Eagles has yielded two UAAP champions in four consecutive Finals appearances, but Bundit has also sacrificed months of time away from his family.

Bundit, however, will continue to coach up-and-coming club team Creamline Cool Smashers, as confirmed by their team manager Alvin Acero.

“I can assure you that Coach Tai will continue to be Creamline’s head coach next year,” Acero told Tiebreaker Times.

This leaves the Ateneo Lady Eagles gutted, as they have lost setter Jia Morado to graduation, opposite hitter Michelle Morente to academic reasons, and senior Kim Gequillana to an ACL tear.

Assistant coach Sherwin Meneses is tipped to replace Bundit as interim head coach.
