SOURCES: Rhenz Abando heads to Letran

Colegio de San Juan de Letran has just scored a coup.

According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, Rhenz Abando completed his transfer to Letran, Monday afternoon.

Abando needed a full week to make his decision, as the 22-year-old went back home Sto. Tomas, La Union over the weekend to consult with his family first.

Other schools that courted him include San Beda University, Adamson University, and National University.

And what a huge steal Abando is for the Knights.

The 6-foot-2 utility player dazzled in his sole year in University of Santo Tomas, averaging 11.71 points, 5.29 rebounds, and a team-high 1.29 blocks in 17 games played. He was a key piece in the Growling Tigers’ second place finish in UAAP Season 82.

Abando still has two playing years left with the Knights. He will have to sit out Season 96 before being eligible for Season 97.

He will be joined by fellow ex-Growling Tigers Brent Paraiso and Ira Bataller in the squad.
