SOURCES: KarlTzy set to join ECHO

Karl “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno is heading to ECHO for the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Nine.

According to Tiebreaker Times’ sources, ECHO has already acquired the services of the 17-year-old superstar for the next MPL season.

Bren Esports announced KarlTzy’s departure last Monday.

KarlTzy, who entered the league back in Season Two, has already cemented his legacy as one of the best Mobile Legends players not just in the country but in the world.

His first major break came in 2019 when he landed the starting gig in the Sibol national team — at the young age of 15 — which bagged the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games in Manila that year.

There, KarlTzy showed everyone a glimpse of the future, leading the Philippines against a stacked Indonesia squad bannered by M1 world champion EVOS Legends in the finale.

During the pandemic, the 17-year-old wunderkind from Antipolo spearheaded Bren Esports’ dominance in the Land of Dawn.

After finishing third in Season Five, Bren Esports finally fulfilled its destiny by winning the MPL Philippines Season Six title.

The team also bagged a championship in The Nationals before finishing second to Alter Ego in the MPL Invitational to go along with the MPL trophy.

What followed was the event that elevated KarlTzy from being a young prodigy to legendary status: the M2 World Championship.

KarlTzy put up a performance of a lifetime on the world stage, showcasing his God-like mechanics and exceptional game sense to help Bren Esports become the first Filipino world champion in the realm of Mobile Legends.

He was also hailed as the Group Stage and Finals Most Valuable Player awards of the tournament.

Aside from the individual plums, KarlTzy also made history by securing the first Savage in the world series through his signature Lancelot.

Unfortunately, right after the world series, Bren Esports suffered one of the most heart-breaking downfalls that the community has seen.

From being the world’s best, the reigning kings of Mobile Legends slowly crumbled to pieces, finishing at fourth place in Season Seven before entirely missing the playoffs in Season Eight.

Now, KarlTzy has a chance to jump-start his career as he reunites with a couple of familiar faces in ECHO.

Country manager Mitch Liwanag was the one handling the national MLBB team in 2019 while Jankurt “KurTzy” Matira spent time with KarlTzy during their stay in SGD Omega a few years back.

ECHO ended Season Eight at the 5th-6th place after losing to Omega Esports in the first round of the playoffs.
