Seven Gagate looks to find consistency as LSGH run winds down

La Salle Green Hills had a thrilling 87-84 win over the defending champion San Beda-Taytay, with a standout performance from Greenies senior, Seven Gagate.

The 6-foot-8 center from Cebu put on a monster performance, finishing with 22 points, 14 rebounds, five assists, and three blocks. This impressive outing was a far cry from his last game, where he only scored seven markers on 3-for-15 shooting with six turnovers.

Despite Gagate’s previous struggles, his teammates were able to carry the load and secure a 73-69 victory over Arellano University. Luis Pablo had a strong outing, scoring 21 points and grabbing 14 rebounds, while Rod Alian chipped in 16 markers, seven boards, and seven dimes.

Gagate expressed his gratitude for his teammates, stating, “Minsan di ko din talaga alam bakit [nawawala laro ko]. Pero as of now feeling ko nakukuha ko na rhythm ko.

“Siyempre ano po kami, proud po kasi last game bad game ako e tapos sila yung nag-step up. This time lahat kami nag-step up.”

The 18-year-old struggled in the first half of the game against the Red Cubs, trailing by 13 at the half with only six points. However, in the second half, he led his team back from a 19-point deficit to secure the win.NCAA-Season-98-LSGH-vs-San-Beda-Seven-Gagate Seven Gagate looks to find consistency as LSGH run winds down Basketball CSB NCAA News - philippine sports news

Gagate attributes his success to his never-say-die attitude, saying, “Pinaghirapan talaga namin yung game kahit na slow start kami. Medyo hirap talaga lalo na nung una kasi puro bago kami and yung coaches.

“Basta ang akin lang naman, hindi ako basta basta sumusuko.”

With this mindset, Gagate and the Greenies are poised for big things in the second half of the round.
