Former FEU standout Pat Pasinos wasted no time making an impact with his new squad, La Salle Green Hills.
The 6-foot-6 forward powered the Greenies to a stunning 67-59 victory over the San Beda Red Cubs in the opening of the NCAA Season 101 Juniors Basketball Tournament on Thursday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
Pasinos — who previously starred for the Baby Tams and led them to a bronze finish in the UAAP Season 87 16-and-under basketball tournament — delivered a dominant outing with 20 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks to steer the Greenies to their first win in Group B.
Backing him up were Jaime Teo, who chipped in 12 points, and Josef Calo-oy, who tallied 13 points, six rebounds, and six steals.
The Greenies’ defense also limited Isabela phenom Andrei Ugaddan, holding him to just 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting.
For San Beda, Dwayne Nonato and Martin Mejia led the way with 13 points apiece. Meanwhile, Juris San Juan registered a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double in the losing effort.
Earlier, Lyceum-Cavite pulled off an upset over Malayan High School, 74-66.
The Junior Pirates, who only managed a single win last season, leaned on Steven Creus’ 18 points, while Ken Bo added 15 points, five rebounds, and three steals.
Khian Panerio contributed 12 points, and Lamarcus Pelayo hauled down 10 boards.
Kean Dungca paced the Red Robins with 14 points, while Froilan Reyes added 13 on a rough 25-shot attempt night.
