SEAG Beach Vball team returns as jrs program introduced


The present and the future of the country’s beach volleyball program will be front and center when the Philippine National Volleyball Federation holds its tryouts on April 30 at the Subic Tennis Center.

Returning are the bronze medal-winning SEA games quartet of Sisi Rondina, Bernadeth Pons, Dzi Gervacio, and Dij Rodriguez for the women’s and the trio of Jude Garcia, Jaron Requinton, and James Buytrago.

Champions of the 2021 PSL Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup Alexa Polidario, Jennifer Cosas, and Erjane Magdato were also invited.

“The PNVF is currently prioritizing its elite/high-performance initiatives through the National Team Commission,” President Tats Suzara said. “The national team will be focusing on the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi in December.”

Army’s Jovelyn Gonzaga and Cignal’s Mylene Paat will be doing double-duty as they are also part of the indoor women’s pool.

Completing the 20-woman pool are Babylove Barbon (UST), Jackie Estoquia (Sta. Lucia), Milena Alessandrini (UST), DM Demontaño (Sta. Lucia), Princess Robles (NU), Honey Grace Cabansay (UST), Jozza Cabalsa (Air Force), Janine Navarro (Chery Tiggo), Tin Tiamzon (F2 Logistics), Javen Sabas (PUP), Gen Eslapor (UST), and Mer Jauculan (UST).

Over at the men’s side, Ranran Abdilla will be part of the pool.

Also part of it are Anthony Arbasto (Creamline), Edwin Tolentino (Air Force), Ronald Umang-it (Mapua), Joven Camaganakan (IEM), AJ Pareja (Creamline), Jade Becaldo (Cebu), Calvin Sarte (Davao), James Pecaña (PLDT), Jason Uy (Army), Greg Dolor (Navy), Philip Bagalay (Creamline), KR Guzman (General Santos), Joshua Miña (EAC), Reuben Inaudito (Air Force), and Kurl Rosete (Navy).

A juniors program is also set to make its debut.

The girls are Justine Jazareno, Roma Mae Doromal, Kathrina Epa, Kizil Doren, Grydelle Joanice Matibag, Althea Marie Bacalanos, Maria Megan Gumban, and Samantha Maranan.

The boys will consist of Pol Salvador, Rancel Varga, Dominique Gabito, Alexander Cabatuan, Jefter Guerrero, Efraem Dimaculangan, Amil Pacinio, Mar Angelo de Lara, Jay Rack Dela Noche, and Eugene Gloria.

Rhovyl Verayo and Paul Jan Doloiras will supervise the tryouts.

The athletes, coaches, organizers, and officials involved in the will undergo RT-PCR tests 48 hours before the tryouts with a guaranteed turnaround time of 24 hours.

“These tryouts are needed in order for the athletes to be at their optimal condition prior to key competition events this year,” Suzara said.
