Santiago, Saitama demolish Toyota in V.League

Jaja Santiago and Saitama dismantled the hapless Toyota Auto Body in straight sets, 25-21, 25-21, 25-23, in the 2021-22 V.League Division 1 women’s tournament, Sunday at the Kawagoe Sports Park Gymnasium.

The 6-foot-5 Filipina import did not need to score as much in the rout, making six points including two blocks.

Saitama now rose to two games above .500 at 7-5 while the Queenseis have yet to win a match in 12 outings.

Yuka Sato brought her A-game, leading all scorers with 20 points, all from spikes for Ageo Medics.

Mami Uchiseto produced nine points while Lorenne Teixeira finished with seven points in two sets played.

Kelsey Robinson paced the Queenseis with 16 points but had a poor 32.6 attacking percentage.

Hinata Shighihara added 11 points founded on eight attacks, two blocks, and one service ace in the losing cause.

Ageo Medics will next face Hitachi on Saturday, 1:00 PM, at the Adastria Mito Arena in Ibaraki.
