Robert Bolick is definitely one of the top prospects in the collegiate ranks.
After transferring to San Beda University four years ago, the 6-foot-1 combo guard from Ormoc made the leap from bench-player to a bonafide star. And he has collected numerous accolades, including the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup Most Valuable Player crown and the 2018 Chooks-to-Go/NCAA-UAAP Press Corps Player of the Year plum.
Still, the 22-year-old seeks improvements to his game.
A student of the game, the Gilas Cadet is still finding things to add to his already deadly arsenal. And he is looking to improve on his off-the-dribble shooting by reaching out to one of the game’s smartest scorers.
“Minemessage ko si Kiefer [Ravena] kasi hindi siya naglalaro this time,” disclosed Bolick, who is averaging 20.0 points on 40 percent shooting per game so far in the NCAA Season 94 Seniors Basketball tournament.
“Kapag may free time siya sana puwede niya akong turuan.
“Kasi sabi niya sa akin na I have to work on my jump shot. I’m not really good with those types of shots. E si Kiefer is one of the best with those shots so I reached out to him na baka puwede niya ako tulungan,” the native of Ormoc furthered.
Ravena, who is currently on the sidelines until August of 2019, is willing to help out one of his good friends. But he hopes that he does not violate the sanctions imposed on him by FIBA when he does so.
“We’re setting up our schedule pa. Nag-approach lang ako para matulungan din siya, total I’m not that busy naman,” Ravena shared.
“Hopefully, I don’t get to violate anything with regards to my sanction.”
But it’s not just from Ravena that he wants to learn from as there are many other players that he wants to pick the brains of.
“Gusto ko matuto nang matuto nang matuto hangga’t kung sino yung puwede diyan na makatulong sa game ko para tumaas. No limit naman kasi yung dreams and expectations mo sa sarili mo,” Bolick expressed.
“Gusto kong nandun ako sa taas eh.”
