Robert Bolick has definitely been a consistent cog for NorthPort in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
In the Batang Pier’s first four games in the mid-season joust where they have gone 3-1, the rookie out of San Beda put up per-game averages of 15.75 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.0 assists in 33.08 minutes of action.
And in their meeting with the debuting San Miguel Beermen Wednesday night, Bolick finished with 25 points on a 55.6-percent shooting clip, seven boards, two steals, and an assist to lead his side to the 121-88 blowout victory.
He credits this success as him having already adjusted to life with a foreign reinforcement.
“‘Pag may import. Sanay ako sa San Beda, may import,” joked Bolick when asked about his solid showings, drawing laughter from reporters.
But turning serious, the 23-year-old said that he’s only carrying the lessons he garnered from the 2019 Philippine Cup to this tilt, where his Batang Pier is currently sharing the top spot of the standings with Blackwater Elite.
“Sa’kin experience talaga. First conference, maganda yung start ko tapos nagiiba yung depensa ng ibang teams, so ayun nagpatulong lang ako sa mga coaches na bigyan ako ng videos, san ako pwede matuto,” he said.
“Kasi pag masama laro mo marami kang matututunan eh. Kahit maganda yung laro mo, kaunti lang matututunan mo,” the third overall pick in the 2018 Rookie Draft continued.
“Sa dami kong bad games last conference, trinabaho ko lang yun eh. Pasalamat kay coach Pido [Jarencio], buong coaching staff andiyan sakin. Kahit masama laro ko, parati akong sinasabihan, sige lang be aggressive.”
