Robert Bolick confident he can win 3-point tilt: ‘Na-apiran ko si Matthew Wright eh’

Robert Bolick has never taken part in a three-point contest. He’s confessed that he feels giddy, as he will see action in the Three-Point Shootout of the 2019 PBA All-Star Weekend in Calasiao, Pangasinan.

Bolick has been named as the NorthPort Batang Pier’s representative in the contest. He will slug it out with 11 other players, including Shootout veterans Marcio Lassiter, Matthew Wright, and reigning champ James Yap.

“Excited ako sa three-point contest eh. First time ko sumali sa three-point contest buong buhay ko,” expressed the rookie out of San Beda, who will also see action in the Rookies-Sophomores versus Juniors.

“‘Di naman ako shooter.”

Since this is his first foray in the competition, Bolick isn’t sure of his strategy. “‘Di ko alam set, shot na lang? Tignan natin,” said the 23-year-old, who’s been shooting 21 percent in the Philippine Cup.

But the playful Bolick is oozing with confidence that he can win.

“Feeling ko mananalo ako bukas. Na-apiran ko si Matthew Wright eh,” Bolick joked.

“Feeling ko lumilipat yung powers. Feeling ko lang. Kinakabahan lang ako kay James Yap kasi ‘pag shumoot ng dalawa, tuloy-tuloy na.

“Pero feeling ko nabigay na ni Matthew Wright yung powers niya,” he grinned.

Turning serious, though, Bolick is more concerned about the Batang Pier’s crucial tiff with the streaking Barangay Ginebra San Miguel on Wednesday, April 3, as it will determine their fate in the Philippine Cup quarterfinals.

“Iniisip ko talaga yung Wednesday game against Ginebra, crucial yun sa’min. Bukas just a fun game pero at the back of my mind – I’m sure pati na rin sa mga teammates ko – yun talaga nasa isip ko, Wednesday game,” he said.
