Rosegie Ramos has officially secured her maiden Olympic appearance in the Paris Games later this year.
The back-to-back Asian Junior champion’s entry into the quadrennial spectacle was confirmed by none other than the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) following her successful participation at the 2024 IWF World Cup in Phuket, Thailand, on Monday afternoon.
Ramos, competing in the women’s 49 kg division, maintained her position in the Top 10 worldwide despite registering a lift of 190 kg in the World Cup.
She has also emerged as the top performer in Group B.
Her total lift of 191 kg – achieved at the IWF Grand Prix 2 in Doha, Qatar, last year from both the snatch and the clean and jerk – still secures her ninth place in the Olympic Qualification ranking.
Ramos, 20 years old and hails from Zamboanga, is a cousin of Hidilyn Diaz.
Tokyo Olympic champion Diaz, fellow Asian junior champ Vanessa Sarno, and SEA Games silver medalist John Ceniza are all aiming to solidify their spots in Paris later in the competition in the southern Thailand province.
Ramos now joins six other athletes – pole vaulter EJ Obiena, gymnasts Carlos Yulo and Alleah Finnegan, and boxers Eumir Marcial, Nesthy Petecio, and Aira Villegas – in commemorating the Philippines’ centenary of Olympic Games participation.
