In a tribute fitting for a king, Carlos Yulo, the nation’s golden hero, has been showered with rewards and accolades that surpass even the loftiest expectations.
Following his historic achievements at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 – where he solidified his status as the Philippines’ greatest Olympian – Yulo’s homecoming has been nothing short of spectacular.
Upon his arrival, the outpouring of support for Yulo was overwhelming.
Already guaranteed P20 million in accordance with the Republic Act 10699, known as the National Athletes and Coaches Benefits and Incentives Act, Yulo’s total haul has surged to over P70 million.
This figure, bolstered by numerous additional rewards and perks, underscores the nation’s immense pride in its newest sporting icon.
The Office of the President added a further P20 million to Yulo’s windfall, while the House of Representatives increased its initial reward from P6 million to an impressive P14 million.
Arena Plus, Bounty Fresh, and Megaworld also made substantial contributions, with P5 million, P3 million, and P3 million, respectively.
On top of this, Megaworld gifted Yulo a luxurious P32 million condominium unit at Mckinley Hill in Bonifacio Global City.
Businessman and politician Chavit Singson pledged an additional P5 million, with a unique stipulation that Yulo reconciles with his family. Singson’s gesture carries a powerful message about the shared nature of success and the importance of family support.
Boxing legend Manny Pacquiao also added an undisclosed amount to Yulo’s growing list of rewards.
On August 15, Toyota Philippines announced it would gift Yulo a brand-new Land Cruiser Prado, a seven-seater SUV valued at approximately P4.8 million.
The lavish rewards don’t end there.
Yulo was officially handed the keys to his new condominium unit from Megaworld on August 14. He will also receive two additional properties: a house and lot in Nasugbu, Batangas, from Century Properties Group, and another in Tagaytay from the Philippine Olympic Committee.
Other generous offers include P1 million worth of products from SM retail stores, P100,000 worth of furniture from Apollo, and a lifetime supply of eyewear and eye-care solutions from Ideal Vision.
For his travels, Philippine Airlines has granted Yulo 150,000 Mabuhay Miles per year for life, while Cebu Pacific has pledged 28 domestic flights for this year.
The culinary world has also celebrated Yulo’s triumph, with Vikings offering a lifetime of free buffet dining at any of their branches.
