Carlos Yulo has finally completed his golden collection.
The country’s Golden Boy captured the Asian Games title he has long sought, winning gold in the men’s floor exercise with a massive 14.666 points at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on Thursday at the Nagoya City General Gymnasium.
With a difficulty score of 5.7, the 2019 World champion added an impressive 8.966 execution mark from the panel after delivering a near-perfect routine worthy of the throne.
Now 26, Yulo redeemed himself from the ghosts of his first Asian Games appearance in Jakarta-Palembang in 2018, where he settled for seventh place despite topping the qualifications in the same apparatus.
The Paris 2024 Olympic champion showed no signs of letting history repeat itself. He not only delivered his breakthrough Asian Games gold, but also put the Philippines in the gold medal column six days into the competition.
Yulo now has 27 major gold medals in his collection, including two Olympic golds, three World Championship titles, 12 Asian Championship golds, and nine SEA Games victories, with his latest triumph adding an elusive Asian Games crown to the list.
What made the moment even more special was sharing it with his younger brother, Karl Eldrew, who finished seventh with 12.233 points in the floor exercise.
The Yulo brothers will see action again on Friday, with Carlos looking to add two more medals to his haul in the vault and parallel bars.
The reigning Olympic vault champion will look to make amends for his struggles in the qualifications when he competes in the event final at 2:00 PM (Philippine time). He will then close out his campaign in the parallel bars at 3:50 PM.
Karl Eldrew, meanwhile, will look to end his Asian Games debut on a high when he competes in the horizontal bar at 5:40 PM against a stacked field.
