The Philippine gymnastics teams finished sixth in the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Team Finals on Wednesday at the Nagoya General Gymnasium.
The men’s side matched its qualification standing with a total of 227.359, while the women’s squad improved on its previous-day performance with 154.563 points.
The men’s quintet briefly moved into medal contention after two rotations, tallying 42.365 points on vault, led by Carlos Yulo’s 14.566. Karl Eldrew Yulo added 13.966, while Justin Ace De Leon chipped in 13.833.
The Philippines then tried to climb further up the standings in the floor exercise, but De Leon and Karl Eldrew Yulo struggled, scoring 10.933 and 13.000, respectively.
Carlos Yulo, meanwhile, offered a preview of what he could produce in the apparatus final on Thursday, posting the Philippines’ best floor score of 14.266.
Later in the day, the women’s team leaned on veterans Kylee Kvamme and Levi Ruivivar to move ahead of Chinese Taipei and Singapore.
Kvamme scored 13.633 on the balance beam and 13.300 on the vault, while Olympian Ruivivar registered 13.766 on the uneven bars before closing out her Asian Games debut with a solid 13.133 on the floor exercise.
The spotlight now shifts to the apparatus finals, with Carlos Yulo gunning for his first-ever Asian Games gold medal in the floor exercise on Thursday at 4 p.m.
