Rhea Dimaculangan ably distributed the wealth for Generika-Ayala while facing her former team Petron eye-to-eye in the curtain-raiser of the 2020 PSL Grand Prix, Thursday.
Unfortunately, though, the seasoned setter’s impressive performance went for naught. The Lifesavers could not contain Kath Bell and the Blaze Spikers, falling in straight sets.
For Dimaculangan, though, the stinging loss to the team she has played for the past several years was the least of her priorities.
“Wala naman, ‘di ko naman iniisip na kalaban sila,” said the one-time league MVP and three-time Best Setter, who played for Petron from 2017 to 2019.
“Focus lang ako sa laro.”
Of course, the UST product is more concerned with Generika-Ayala. “Eto na ‘yung bago kong team, so ito na ‘yung kailangan ko pagtuunan ng pansin,” she said.
The Lifesavers have found themselves in a mire as of late. They have now lost all of their last four matches, stemming from their winless campaign in the 2020 PSL Imus City Mayor Maliksi Super Cup: Spike for a Cause.
In hindsight, the 28-year-old Dimaculangan and the rest of the freshly-minted members of Generika-Ayala have yet to taste a sweet victory with the team.
Still, it is not enough of a reason for them to fret. After all, the season is still young, and there’s still plenty of opportunities to turn their fortunes around.
“Hindi naman. Actually natutuwa pa kami kasi nakikita namin ‘yung mga kailangan i-improve, mga pagkukulang ng bawat isa,” Dimaculangan remarked.
“Lahat naman eager na mas umangat pa ‘yung laro and sila coach naman, andiyan para suportahan.”
Dimaculangan and the Lifesavers seek to earn their first triumphant moment when they face Cignal on Tuesday, March 3.
