Renren Ritualo leads DLSU Sports Hall of Fame class of ’21


De La Salle Alumni Association added eight more former student-athletes and sportsmen to its Hall of Fame, Thursday evening.

Headlining the class is Renren Ritualo — one of only five Lasallians to have their jerseys retired by the school.

Ritualo, 41, is a four-time UAAP Men’s Basketball Champion and was the Finals Most Valuable Player in Season 64.

Also part of the class are the Banzons, Greg, Jose Mari, and Rene. The trio was part of the Green Tracksters in the NCAA, winning multiple crowns for the school.

Dual sport athlete Ira Kim Flores was also enshrined for delivering championships to the school in both softball and track and field.

Celebrated Green Booter Alvin Ocampo was also inducted during the online ceremony. As a student-athlete, he won multiple championships before being called up for the national team. Right now, he is part of a coach for La Salle’s men’s football team.

Completing the class are former La Salle Sports Director Edwin Reyes and former Lady Spikers team manager and current Deputy Speaker Rep. Mikee Romero.

The association also honored 20 former student-athletes who have made the school proud both in the UAAP and the NCAA and for Team Pilipinas.

Green Archers’ Jvee Casio and Jeron Teng, and Lady Spikers’ Jacq Alarca, Paneng Mercado, Michele Gumabao, and Melissa Gohing led the cast.

NCAA Season 92 Most Valuable Player Johnvic De Guzman of the Saint Benilde Blazers was also recognized; along with Green Batters’ Iggy Escano, Kiko Gesmundo, Arvin Herrera, and Diego Lozano; and their team manager and current Amateur Baseball Association of the Philippine secretary-general Pepe Munoz.
