Red Cub to Red Lion: Andrei Ugaddan commits to San Beda for college

Red Cub Andrei Ugaddan is set to grow into a Red Lion.

The 6-foot-3 winger has committed to remain with San Beda University for college, attending his first practice with the defending NCAA champions on Saturday.

The development was confirmed to Tiebreaker Times by multi-time champion team manager Jude Roque.

“We’re very happy that Andrei chose to continue his journey with San Beda for college. From the very start, the vision of the program has always been clear—to develop our Red Cubs and eventually see them grow into Red Lions,” said Roque.

“Andrei is a perfect example of that pathway coming full circle.”

Ugaddan spent the last three years of his secondary education at San Beda–Rizal, suiting up for the Red Cubs in the NCAA.NCAA-101-San-Beda-vs-Letran-Andrei-Ugaddan Red Cub to Red Lion: Andrei Ugaddan commits to San Beda for college Basketball NCAA News SBC - philippine sports news

Last season, he averaged 14.79 points, 9.29 rebounds, 2.07 assists, and 1.43 steals per game, leading the Red Cubs to a quarterfinals appearance.

Prior to NCAA Season 101, Ugaddan, a native of Tumauini, Isabela, powered CALABARZON to a semifinals finish in the 2025 Palarong Pambansa in Laoag, Ilocos Norte.

“Andrei has a very bright future ahead of him with the Red Lions,” added Roque.

“He understands the culture, the discipline, and the expectations that come with wearing the San Beda jersey, and we’re confident he’ll continue to grow and reach his full potential at the collegiate level.”

Ugaddan, who turns 19 in April, will be eligible beginning NCAA Season 102 and will have a full five years of eligibility.

He follows a long lineage of Red Cubs who have opted to continue their careers with the Red Lions.

“Moving forward, the Red Lions program will continue to stay aligned with the Red Cubs program. Our goal is to ensure continuity in culture, system, and player development, so that when our young players make the transition, they’re already prepared to contribute and uphold the San Beda standard,” expressed Roque.
