Quentin Millora-Brown is temporarily returning to the United States to be with his family after the passing of his beloved grandfather, Dr. Angel Millora.
With this absence, Millora-Brown will miss the Fighting Maroons’ highly-anticipated game against defending champions De La Salle University Green Archers on Sunday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
Dr. Angel Millora, a proud alumnus of UP, was a physician who graduated from the UP College of Medicine in 1963.
His deep connection to UP had a lasting impact on Quentin, inspiring him not only to join the Fighting Maroons, but also to pursue further studies.
Dr. Millora’s encouragement played a significant role in Quentin’s decision to enroll in a master’s program at UP.
“We understand, we respect, and we support Q’s decision na umuwi muna to spend time with his family,” said Fighting Maroons head coach Goldwin Monteverde.
“The MBT and, I’m sure, buong UP community rin are with him ngayon, as they mourn the loss of a family member. Let’s all pray for him.”
Millora-Brown is averaging 8.1 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game.
In his stead, UP will look to a collective effort from frontcourt players Francis Lopez, Mark Belmonte, Aldous Torculas, Gani Stevens, Sean Alter, and Dikachi Ududo against La Salle.
Millora-Brown is expected to return to the Philippines on Monday and rejoin the Fighting Maroons by Wednesday, just in time for UP’s playoff push.
