PVL: F2 completes sweep of PLDT, takes bronze for highest finish


Behind Kim Fajardo’s brilliant playmaking, F2 Logistics clinched the bronze medal after taking down PLDT in four sets, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-15 in Game Two of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Tuesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Fajardo saved the best for last, dishing out a total of 24 excellent sets to go along with 11 big points built on five attacks, four blocks, and two aces as the Cargo Movers completed its sweep of the High Speed Hitters to snag their highest finish in the PVL since joining the league in 2021.

After splitting the first two sets, F2 Logistics gutted a tight win in the third set after Aby Marano scored a quick before Ara Galang roofed Michelle Morante to break a 23-all deadlock en route to a 25-23 win.

In the fourth set, the Cargo Movers stepped on the gas and led by as much as 11 points, 23-12, courtesy of an Aby Marano quick before taking a lopsided 25-15 victory.

“Masaya kasi syempre bronze pa rin yun. A win is a win but you know, we can still dream and we can still work. Hopefully makapag-champion, yun naman yung goal ng lahat,” said F2 Logistics head coach Regine Diego.

Kianna Dy top-scored for the Cargo Movers with 19 points on 15 attacks, three blocks, and one ace while Galang added 14 markers on 10 attacks and four blocks to go along with 16 excellent digs and 10 excellent receptions.

Dawn Macandili collected 31 excellent digs and 15 excellent receptions.

On the other hand, Dell Palomata paced the High Speed Hitters with 16 points on 12 attacks and four rejections while Mendrez chipped in 14 points on 14 attacks.

Jovy Prado had an all-around game for PLDT, finishing with 13 points, 22 excellent digs, and 14 excellent receptions while Morente had 12 markers.
