PVL: Creamline strikes back with commanding win against Nxled

Defending champion Creamline vented its ire on also-ran Nxled, 25-22, 25-12, 25-20, for a solid bounce-back victory in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Saturday at the Philsports Arena.

Coming off a five-set defeat at the hands of Petro Gazz a week ago, the Cool Smashers flexed their might over the Chameleons to remain in the playoffs picture with a 7-2 win-loss standing.

“Siyempre masaya kami sa panalo namin ngayon. Naka-recover kami doon sa last game namin, yung five sets,” said Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses.

Nxled tried to force a fourth set with the scores locked at 19-all late in the third. However, back-to-back errors from Lycha Ebon and Jaila Atienza sparked Creamline’s 6-1 finishing kick.

Michele Gumabao capped things off with consecutive points.

The Cool Smashers had to escape a tight opening set before dominating the Chameleons in the second frame.

“Siyempre ang mindset lang, yung game ngayon, so wala munang ibang iisipin. Mag-focus lang kami na makukuha namin yung panalo today,” he added.

“Masaya kami at nakuha namin yung trabaho ng maganda ngayon.”

Tots Carlos fired a team-high 18 points on 14 attacks and four aces for Creamline, who finished the game after an hour and 27 minutes of play.

Alyssa Valdez scored 12 points, all from attacks, while Jema Galanza had 10 points and nine excellent digs.

Kyle Negrito glued things together with 17 excellent sets to go along with four points, which included two blocks.

Meanwhile, Kyla Atienza and Ella De Jesus had eight excellent digs and five excellent receptions, respectively.

Creamline will square off against sister squad Choco Mucho on Thursday, 6:00 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Meanwhile, Nxled dropped to 3-6 in the standings, tied with Galeries Tower at the eighth spot.

Ivy Lacsina paced the Chameleons with 10 points on six attacks, three aces, and one ace.

Jho Maraguinot and Camille Victoria had eight points each in the loss.

Nxled will try to end its campaign on a high against Capital1 on April 23, 4:00 PM at the Philsports Arena.
