Clean was RSG PH’s performance against ECHO on Saturday night.
It took the reigning MPL Philippines champion a combined total of 27 minutes and 11 seconds to dispatch the surging ECHO, who won its past two assignments in the previous week, via sweep.
But it sure would not have been possible without the efforts of Arvie “Aqua” Calderon, who played immortal in the two-game series.
The MPL PH Season Nine Best Support played Kagura and delivered four kills and four assists without a death in Game One to lead RSG PH’s come-from-behind victory. Then in Game Two, he had another deathless performance, finishing with three kills and nine assists on Faramis.
RSG PH head coach Brian “Panda” Lim lauded the veteran midlaner for his flawless outing in the win, which placed the team at the third spot with a 4-2 slate tied with ECHO.
“I’m not really surprised. Even in the MSC he was the KDA king, he always had the least number of deaths. Aqua is just really good at positioning,” said Panda.
“If I give him pointers like si KarlTzy mahilig mag-gank sa mid, ECHO really likes to control the mid lane and I always give him these kinds of briefings and pointers and he listens to that. I’m really proud, he follows his game instincts and I’m not really surprised.”
For his part, Aqua, who also noted that his positioning played a key role in his performance, said that he was just really confident heading into the game against ECHO
“Ganun lang talaga, depende sa position lang talaga. Confident naman ako ngayon na kaya talaga naming i-sweep yung ECHO saka kahit sino naman.”
