Aurora PH sweeps AP Bren to stay on top of MPL PH standings

By: George Torno

Aurora PH came out blazing and dismantled AP Bren with a 2-0 sweep to kick off Week 4 of MPL Philippines Season 16 on Friday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati City.

The win boosted Aurora to a 5-1 record, keeping their hold as the league’s current frontrunner.

Coach Anniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani highlighted that the team struggled the most against Arvie “Aqua” Calderon throughout the series due to his unexpected Lunox pick.

“Hindi ko inexpect talaga na maglu-lunox siya. Dalawang beses pa nila ginawa, so tingin ko yun talaga yung ni-ready nila para sa amin. Goods siy,a pero tingin ko mas maganda lang execution namin,” Coach MTB said.

Iba kasi talaga pag kasama nila si Aqua,” he added.

In the opening game, AP Bren tried to punish Aurora’s siege, but Aurora held their ground with Kenneth “Yue” Tadeo (Kimmy) registering his first career Savage. He earned the Game 1 MVP honors with a 5-1-5 KDA.

In Game 2, Denniel “xNova” Gomez’s (Kalea) failed pick-off attempt on Dylan “Light” Catipon’s Gatotkaca during a 17th-minute base turret defense led to a 5-for-1 wipeout, with the latter executing a clutch Avatar of the Guardian reengage.

Light claimed the Game 2 MVP citation in the closeout match with a 1-1-11 KDA.

Aurora will look to extend their winning streak against Omega Esports on Saturday, September 13.
