GG for RSG PH as franchise concludes four-year MPL PH run

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

RSG Philippines concluded its nearly four-year run in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League Philippines, marking the end of its franchise, as announced on their social media platforms on Thursday.

RSG’s journey in MPL PH began with a rough start in Season 8, where they finished 5th-6th after a 0-3 loss to Nexplay EVOS in the upper bracket quarterfinals.

However, they made a strong comeback in their sophomore season, emerging as champions by defeating Smart Omega 4-1 in the grand finals.

A month after their impressive MPL Season 9 victory, the team continued to dominate, securing another championship title on the international stage at MSC 2022, where Eman “EMANN” Sangco was named Finals MVP.

Following their success in both local and international competitions, RSG faced significant challenges in MPL Philippines Seasons 10 to 13, consistently finishing in 3rd to 4th place.

Season 14, however, marked a particularly tough chapter for RSG, as they failed to secure a spot in the playoffs for the first time in franchise history, ultimately finishing in 7th place.

The team also made three appearances in the MPL Invitational tournament.

In 2023, they were crowned champions after defeating ECHO (now Team Liquid Philippines) 3-1 in the grand finals.

In 2021 and 2022, they finished in 5th-8th and 3rd-4th place, respectively.
