Disciplined and relentless, PLDT moved closer to securing a spot in the qualifying round, overpowering Galeries Tower in a commanding 25-18, 25-22, 25-17 sweep during the 2026 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Tuesday at the Filoil Centre.
Fully aware of the threat posed by a determined Highrisers squad, the High Speed Hitters stayed sharp and executed flawlessly, clinching their third straight win and improving their record to a league-best 6-1.
“Before the game, ang reminders lang, ibigay ‘yung respect sa Galeries kasi lalo nga’t this conference, very capable na ‘yung lineup. Nakita rin naman ‘yung mga upsets nila sa mga ibang teams, so naging game talaga siya about sa discipline na gusto naming i-impose,” said PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort.
“Hindi kailangang maglaro ng extra special, kung ano lang talaga ‘yung sistema namin, so happy kami sa run namin and nahabol namin ‘yung mga moments na sila ‘yung lumalamang sa amin,” he added.
The High Speed Hitters played with near-perfect precision, committing only 15 errors in the one-hour, 13-minute match. They dominated across all areas, outpacing their opponents 43-37 in attacks, 9-4 in blocks, and 6-1 in aces, leaving no doubt about their control on the court.
Savannah Davison led PLDT with 21 points on 18 attacks, two aces, and one block, along with seven excellent receptions.
Mika Reyes contributed four of the team’s nine blocks and finished with 10 points, while Alleiah Malaluan delivered an all-around effort with nine points, 14 excellent receptions, and seven excellent digs.
Kim Fajardo orchestrated the offense with 15 excellent sets, while Majoy Baron and Kianna Dy added seven and six points, respectively.
PLDT will aim to solidify its spot in the qualifying round when they face Choco Mucho on Saturday at 4 p.m., at the same venue.
Meanwhile, the Highrisers dropped to 2-5, remaining in ninth place in the standings. Jean Asis led the team with nine points on five attacks and four blocks, while Gayle Pascual and Erika Deloria added eight and seven points, respectively.
Galeries Tower will look to end its three-game losing streak against Akari next Tuesday at 4 p.m., also at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.
