Philippines set to host 2024 eFIBA World Finals in Clark

The 2024 eFIBA World Finals – the crowning event of eFIBA Season 3 – is scheduled to take place in the basketball-loving nation of the Philippines on December 11 and 12.

The SMX Clark Convention Center in the city of Clark will be the stage where the world’s top eight esports nations battle for the title of eFIBA World Champion.

This prestigious event will see regional champions from Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North and South America, and Oceania – along with the runners-up from Europe – competing for the coveted title.

With 40 players vying for the championship on the newly released NBA 2K25, the stakes are high as teams not only aim for global supremacy but also a share of the $50,000 prize pool.

The United States, last year’s champion from Sweden, will defend their crown.

The competition will feature two groups of four teams, each playing in a round-robin format.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the Semi-Finals, with the winners progressing to the Grand Final.

Classification matches for the remaining teams will also take place.

Clark, located just a few hours from Metro Manila, is no stranger to hosting world-class sporting events.

It combines the amenities of a modern metropolis with the charm of Filipino culture, making it the ideal location for the eFIBA World Finals.

The city previously hosted the 30th Southeast Asian Games, and now, it is poised to take center stage in the esports world.

Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) President Al Panlilio expressed his excitement about the upcoming event: “Clark has already held multi-sport events, including the Southeast Asian Games in 2019. Now, we’re excited to host the Season 3 eFIBA World Finals here. We felt that Clark was the perfect place for this event, as participants can enjoy world-class amenities in a more relaxed, laid-back vibe with our usual Filipino hospitality.”

FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis also highlighted the significance of hosting the event in the Philippines: “It’s an exciting prospect to have this season’s eFIBA World Finals in the Philippines, a country with a well-known passion for basketball. This was once again confirmed at last year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup, and we can’t wait to see the most high-profile eFIBA event take place there, too.”

In addition to the intense competition, the event will feature local and international casters, including Vince Chang and Chris Simpson.
