Onyok Getigan left frustrated after Ateneo loss: ‘Dapat malalim ang disiplina’

In a little over a week as Adamson head coach, Onyok Getigan already feels he has a grasp on the program’s problems.

Starting his collegiate coaching career off with a win over the National University, Getigan saw the Lady Falcons tumble against the Far Eastern University and the Ateneo de Manila University.

Their latest loss against Ateneo left him most frustrated, especially with his team’s loose hands with errors.

Every game, laging may error, sobra, dami. Kanina, kada set nagpapalit ako ng tao,” added the architect of the Kings Montessori volleyball program.

Getigan was particular with his comments on their setters, rookies MJ Igao and Nikka Yandoc.

“Actually, ‘yung dalawang setter kasi bago. Kulang sa exposure ‘yung dalawang setter talaga,” he said.

He admitted that he is looking forward to having his setter from Kings Montessori Louie Romero next year, along with his other recruits Lucille Almonte, Rizza Cruz, and Antonette Adolfo.

For now, Getigan still wants to improve the current Lady Falcons, particularly whether they can still make the Final Four with a 1-5 record or not.

Katulad noong dalawang setter, minsan ‘yung isa may game, ‘yung isa wala. Nangangapa tayo.”
