Rebuilding Jose Rizal University buffed its team for NCAA Season 99 after landing National University guard Patrick Ramos and College of Saint Benilde’s Sidney Mosqueda.
Ramos’ transfer was confirmed by his father Diosdad while Mosqueda’s transfer was verified by multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.
Ramos, 23, played for UC Santa Cruz, a Division III US NCAA team. During his final year with the team, he averaged 13.8 points on 44.4-percent shooting from the field and 34.9-percent clip from beyond-the-arc.
The California native transferred to National University back in 2020. He played in the UAAP Season 84 3×3 tournament.
During the FilOil EcoOil Preseason Cup, he averaged 1.3 points, 0.3 rebounds, 0.3 assists in 5.5-minutes of action while only playing three games for the Bulldogs.
Not having much playing time due to National University’s stacked lineup, Ramos was recruited by Glenn Capacio who is the active consultant of Louie Gonzalez to go to JRU.
“Si Coach Glenn Capacio is an assistant coach here in NU and he’s also one of the main coaches at JRU. So he just recruited me from NU since he already saw me play,” Ramos said to Tiebreaker Times.
Now in his new found home, Ramos is excited to have a much bigger role for the Heavy Bombers.
“I’m excited for NCAA. I feel like Coach Louie is really building something better at JRU. And we’re just gonna be better and better.”
Meanwhile, Mosqueda, also 23, played in CSB back in Season 97, playing in seven games and totalling 14 minutes.
Both Ramos and Mosqueda will sit out one year and will be eligible for Season 99. They have two years of eligibility left.
