NU to represent Philippines in Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship

National University will represent the Philippines in the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship.

The Lady Bulldogs, competing under the name NU-Monolith Sky Risers, will face Asia’s top club teams in the prestigious continental tournament.

The campaign takes place from September 22 to 29 at Chartchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand.

The Sky Risers are slotted in Group B, where they will face tough competition. Their first match will be against Iran’s Saipa Club on September 22, followed by Vietnam’s LP Bank Ninh Bình on September 23.

Lastly, they will face Japan’s NEC Red Rockets Kawasaki on September 24.

Stakes are high in this AVC-sanctioned tournament, as the top two teams will earn a spot in the 2024 FIVB Volleyball Women’s Club World Championship, which will take place from December 16 to 22 in China.

This tournament will also mark the debut of Sherwin Meneses as head coach of the Lady Bulldogs, adding another layer of significance to their campaign.

The defending UAAP champions, led by aces Mhicaela Belen and Alyssa Solomon, recently competed in the VTV International Volleyball Cup 2024, where they finished in 8th place.
