NU-Monolith concludes AVC Women’s Club journey with sixth-place finish

National University-Monolith settled for sixth place in the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship after falling to Vietnam’s Duc Giang Chemical in straight sets, 25-18, 25-15, 25-10 on Saturday at Chathai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

A crucial 9-4 run by Duc Giang Chemical sealed their fifth-place finish and dashed the Sky Risers’ hopes of achieving the Philippines’ highest placement in the tournament for the past three years.

With this loss, NU-Monolith matched Choco Mucho’s sixth-place finish in the same tournament in 2021.

Having now participated in two international tournaments during their offseason preparations — the 2024 VTV International Women’s Volleyball Cup and the 2024 Asian Club Volleyball Championship — the Lady Bulldogs will shift their focus to the upcoming 2024 Shakey’s Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Championship.

NU is set to begin its SSL campaign against Emilio Aguinaldo College on October 11, Friday, at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.
