Nothing can keep Alyssa Valdez away from her ‘family’

If management had not prevented her, Alyssa Valdez would have surely played in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference semis with Creamline.

Expressing her full commitment to both Creamline and the National Team, Valdez would have been split between two big responsibilities. Ultimately, National Team sponsor and Creamline’s mother company made the decision for her; she’s only playing for the National Team and will sit out all remaining PVL games.

That, however, did not stop the former Ateneo De Manila University Lady Eagle from supporting the people she considers her second family.

The Batangueña suited up, stretched, and played the part of faithful bench player in Game One of Creamline’s best-of-three series against Bali Pure. She could only watch as the Cool Smashers essayed a masterful five-set breakthrough, coming just a game away from the Finals.PVL-Women-Semis-Creamline-vs.-Bali-Pure-Racraquin-1656 Nothing can keep Alyssa Valdez away from her 'family' News PVL Volleyball - philippine sports news

It’s never been fun for Valdez to just stand by while her teammates slug it out for their PVL lives.

“Hindi masayang manood.

“Super nakakakaba talaga kapag nasa labas ka ng court. All you can do is really cheer and pray for your teammates. Sobrang ganda naman talaga nang pinakita nila. We’re all happy na we got the win today,” the 24-year-old National Team spiker expressed.

If anything, Valdez feels grateful to be part of a very accommodating organization.

“I’m really happy to be part of a family na very understanding, very supportive, and naa-appreciate nila lahat ng ginagawa ko. I really found my family in Rebisco and Creamline. I’m looking forward to serving them para naman maibalik ko lahat ng tiwala na binibigay nila sa akin,” the four-time PVL MVP said.

For now, Valdez is fully committed to supporting her teammates in this capacity.

“I’m happy being here and supporting my teammates. Whatever happens, nandito pa rin ako para sa kanila. I feel at home talaga when I’m on the court,” the Ateneo alumna said.

“When I wear my jersey, I feel like I’m part of a family.”
