Baser Amer made it clear that he treated the Meralco Bolts’ game against the TNT KaTropa as a regular game, Wednesday evening.
Rumors have swirled prior to this season that the 6-foot-1 guard will be shipped by the Meralco Bolts to the TNT KaTropa through a three-team trade involving the Blackwater Elite in exchange for 2018’s second overall pick Ray Parks, Jr.
Amer even played as if he’s sending a message, putting up a season-high 17 points to help the Bolts climb back from 21 points down and pummel the Texters, 88-77, to return into the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup win column.
But then, there wasn’t an extra push, the four-year pro insisted.
“Wala naman, wala naman,” said Amer with a smile moments after the match at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
“Basta ngayon, pagkakaalam ko nasa Meralco pa ‘ko, at excited ako lagi sa mga darating na games.”
Such rumors are definitely the least of Amer’s concerns. For him, he’s just glad that the Bolts have come up with the victory, which avenged their humiliating 93-105 loss in the hands of the San Miguel Beermen last Sunday.
The Bolts have improved to 2-2, and have forced a three-way tie with San Miguel and the Columbian Dyip at the fourth spot of the team standings.
“Sobrang laking bagay nito kasi kung makikita mo yung standings ngayon puro may mga dalawang panalo pa lang — kahit Ginebra, kahit San Miguel — so walang kasiguraduhan talaga,” said the product of San Beda.
“After nito may game kami sa Sabado [versus NLEX Road Warriors] so kailangan namin maayos mind namin, focus kami sa practice para pagdating sa game ma-deliver namin ng maayos yung mga gusto ni coach.”
