Nitura, Roque, Omega leave Perpetual

The Olsen Racela era in University of Perpetual Help System DALTA will have a challenging start.

Jun Roque, Marcus Nitura, and Mark Omega, three of the Altas’ starting five, have decided to leave Las Pinas, according to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.

Losing the three will be a tough blow for Perpetual which is looking to make it to the Final Four after missing it the last two seasons.

Of course, the biggest losses are incoming juniors Roque and Nitura.NCAA-99-CSJL-vs.-UPHSD-Art-Roque-2 Nitura, Roque, Omega leave Perpetual Basketball NCAA News UPHSD - philippine sports news

Roque, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Pampanga, was last season’s Most Improved Player and a Mythical Five member after norming 12.94 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.06 assists, and 1.44 steals per game.

Meanwhile, Nitura, a 6-foot-4 forward, normed 10.11 points, 6.83 rebounds, 3.78 assists, and 1.39 steals per game.NCAA-99-CSJL-vs.-UPHSD-Mark-Omega Nitura, Roque, Omega leave Perpetual Basketball NCAA News UPHSD - philippine sports news

Incoming senior Omega, a former Letran Squire, is a 6-foot-5 bruiser, who averaged 6.56 points and 8.17 rebounds per game.

The three are set to transfer to another NCAA school, Tiebreaker Times sources added.

Coincidentally, Perpetual released a statement, saying that the school is not affiliated with Nap Garcia.

“This is to inform the public that Napoleon Rolando R. Garcia is no longer connected with the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA Sports Department effective January 30, 2024,” the school’s statement read.

“Any transaction, entered into by Mr. Garcia on said date and thereafter, for and on behalf of the University, has no prior approval, and thus, shall not be honored by the University.”
