It’s official.
Nexplay Esports has forged a partnership with Indonesian organization EVOS, as Nexplay Esports CEO and founder Gabriel Benito made the news official during the team’s mid-year launch.
Tiebreaker Times was the first to report the development.
“We’ve been communicating for more than a year already, planning on things on how we can work together. During the pandemic, we were finding ways to collaborate with each other and we believe that this is the right opportunity to work on something big,” said Benito.
“It was mainly because of our vision together. For Nexplay, our mission really is to help gamers succeed alongside EVOS’ vision of making dreams a reality for every gamer.”
Interestingly, when the team’s Mobile Legends roster was introduced to the stage, only four names were called by the hosts.
These were Renejay “RENEJAY” Baracarse, John Paul “H2wo” Salonga, Tristan “Yawi” Cabrera, and Setsuna “Akosi Dogie” Ignacio.
The team has just released veteran support Dexter “Exort” Martinez — one of the few bright spots for the squad in the previous season. Meanwhile, there is no information regarding the status of James “Jeymz” Gloria and Lance “LanceCy” Cunanan.
Nexplay also promoted former ONIC PH tank John Michael “Zico” Dizon as head coach for Season Eight.
The squad capped off Season Seven with another seventh-eight place finish after a 3-1 defeat from Work Auster Force. Nexplay Esports finished fourth in Group B through a 6-7 standing.
Benito also disclosed that Nexplay and EVOS’ partnership will not just be on the competitive end but will also accommodate the growing entertainment sector of the esports industry.
